The Meili Movement Turns to Federal Politics: Noah Evanchuk to Run in Palliser

When the Saskatchewan NDP leadership race started to wind down, questions started to emerge about what would happen to Ryan Meili's energetic, devout, inspiring and youthful leadership movement.

Some commentators speculated that Meili supporters might make a move to the Green Party, and this blog felt that Saskatchewan's municipal elections were the next obvious outlet for a positive, progressive and pro-change agenda, but it is starting to appear as though the Meili movement may turn to federal politics.

Jack Layton visited Regina's Les Sherman Park to barbecue and socialize with members of the community on Thursday. Discussions among the attendees quite naturally focused on the federal election that could occur at any time. One of the more interesting topics of discussion was the potential candidacy of Noah Evanchuk for the NDP nomination in the federal riding of Palliser.

Evanchuk didn't make an official announcement at the barbecue, but let on he was "seriously considering" a run at the Palliser NDP nomination.

Based in Regina, Noah Evanchuk was one of the primary organizers for the Ryan Meili campaign and was deeply involved in running a very strong progressive, grassroots-oriented, technically-savvy, and innovative campaign. Should Evanchuk ultimately announce a decision to seek the NDP nomination in Palliser, he will certainly do so with a battle-tested and proven team of volunteers behind him.
